Barbados-Western-Attractions
St. Michael

Queens Park:

One of Barbados-Western-Attractions:

Queens Park is one of Barbados largest public parks. I remember as a child going to this park in December for the annual Agricultural Exhibition. It was the time to “show off” your best attire and eat “English Apples” (red apples). These were not plentiful during the year in those days. Although this tradition is now discontinued, the local residents now use Christmas morning after church to display their outfits in Queens Park. I am usually one of them.

Cricket in Queens Park

Queens Park is also used as a cricket grounds for one of the local teams. And any weekend during the cricket season you can watch a game being played. I love this park because you can also take long walks and enjoy the flowers and various statues that are situated throughout the park.

Banks Barbados Breweries:

Another of Barbados-Western-Attractions is Banks Breweries. Banks Barbados Breweries is where the island finest brew is made. Although there are many other brands available the local residents love a cool refreshing Banks Beer. This beer is known as the life of any party and can be found anyplace alcohol is allowed or sold.

I visited this brewery many years ago and loved the aroma of the hops. I am not a beer drinker so I can only repeat what many have said about its taste. It’s the best- so smooth! Bank Barbados Breweries does produce other alcoholic products such as the Banks Shandy – blend of beer and ginger – my favorite, and non alcoholic drinks such as Tiger Malt.

Barbados Museum:

The Barbados Museum is a place to learn more about Barbados past and present than these web-pages can provide. This Museum contains historic literature, artifacts and maps from centuries ago. As school children we had to visit this museum and it was difficult for the teachers to get us to leave as there was so much to see.

The Barbados Museum has many galleries all filled with exhibits dealing with topics from the island’s natural history to Africans in the Caribbean. There is also a children’s gallery for the younger ones.
