Bridgetown Barbados!

Bridgetown is the Capital of this coral island. The island got its name from the first British settlers who came in the early 17th century. Previously the British also called it “Indian Bridge”. Bridgetown is known for its many historic buildings and statues. There are also two main shopping areas located in the city; Broad Street and Swan Street.
Most duty free stores are located on Broad Street while Swan Street is mostly catered for the locals. Most of the stores in Swan Street carry merchandise suited for the home with some stores carrying popular dress-fashions and fabrics.

One of the oldest set of historic buildings in Bridgetown is the Parliament Buildings better known to the nationals as the
Public Buildings. In these buildings our Prime Ministers and Senators over the years have made many decisions which have
governed the directions and progress of this coral island, Barbados.

The Careenage is well known for the many private yachts and small boats which now berth there giving it a marina atmosphere in the middle of the city. There are two bridges which crosses the careenage - the Chamberlain Bridge known to residents as the Swing Bridge and the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge.
Besides the historic buildings, the shopping areas, and statues in Bridgetown there are many restaurants which will serve you
